Mechanical design
Complete mechanical design of an industrial installation
A large installation rarely consists of one difficult part. The challenge usually sits in the whole.
Kubuz
I design machines, structures and technical products, and I automate CAD or build configurators when the product needs it.
That can be a complete mechanical design, from concept to production drawings. Or extra drafting capacity for a team that already has the project in hand.
01—What I offer
Drafting
Production drawings and 3D design
For steel, sheet-metal and machine builders with more work than drafters.
3D models in Autodesk InventorProduction and assembly drawings, flat patterns and parts listsA complete design, or extra capacity in your team
A fixed price per job or a day rate. A price and a date after one email.
See drafting
Do you have the same product drawn again and again, in other sizes? Then it belongs in a configurator. See configurators
02—Showcase
Products you can configure yourself today, from a standard flange to a steel stair, a cabinet wall and a lamp shade. They all run on the same engine: every choice rebuilds the part, and the price follows from what has to be made. More are added regularly.
Steel staircase
Straight, L or U, solved from the floor height, checked against EN ISO 14122-3 and priced from its cut lists.
Configure: Steel staircaseBalustrade
Draw the floor edge with corners and arcs. Bars, glass or cables, checked against NBN B 03-004.
Configure: BalustradeFrame cabinet
A bolted cabinet of square steel tube, every shelf checked for load and the bolt kit listed.
Configure: Frame cabinetIrregular cabinet wall
A handle-less wall broken open by a field of boxes. The configurator lays out the grid and prices every plate.
Configure: Irregular cabinet wallLaser-cut lamp shade
Plywood ribs slotted into two rings. Draw the profile, pick the wood and the ribs, get a flat-pack kit.
Configure: Laser-cut lamp shadeStainless worktop
Made to measure, with folded edges, sinks, tap holes and power sockets.
Configure: Stainless worktopSheet metal transition
Cone, hopper or square-to-round, with the top off centre if needed and a flange at either end.
Configure: Sheet metal transitionDIN flange
Plate or blind flange to EN 1092-1, straight from the standard's table.
Configure: DIN flangePrices in the showcase are illustrative.

06—Writing
What I learn in projects about product configuration, CAD automation and the road to the workshop.
Early in October I wrote about the fabrication kernel I am working on. I ended by saying the next step was to design with it. That has happened. The kernel runs in Kubuz CPQ, the system Inoxplus uses to let its products be configured, and in a showcase anyone can open.
A configured product in Tacton already knows what has to be built: which parts exist, what their dimensions are, and where they sit.
A configurable product model is easy to underestimate.
Part 2 ended with one sentence: next step is designing with it. So that is what I did.
